In 2015 and 2016, we held plein air painting events on the Jordan River Parkway in the summer. En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air,” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works.
During our Plein Air on the Jordan River Parkway, viewers may enjoy the talents of plein air artists along the parkway between 5300 South and 4800 South. The morning painting event is followed by an afternoon art show, with artists displaying the pieces they created. Watch here for more information about this summer's event.
